The Coaching Club weekend of the Smiths Lawn Dinner Drive and the Polo Drive followed. Windsor Great Park was as beautiful as ever and we even managed to drive back from the dinner at midnight! The next day saw the Hackney team drive to the Queen’s Cup Polo which was followed by Ascot Week.
The horses did not have much time to rest on their laurels before we were off on our
stopping at Chateaux and places of interest, there were a large number of turnouts from different countries including Gloria Austin from America. Although the journey out had taken us eighteen long hours due to terrible traffic on this side of the Channel we had a most memorable weekend.
hospitality superb and after the three phase competition we were delighted to win the Coaching section, and to come second out of all the competitors for presentation. (see left)
Back to England and Ardingly where two pairs were entered in the Double Harness Class a useful way to acclimatise a youngster to the show ring and great fun.
