Marston Monarch is bred absolutely in the purple for a Show Hackney. Both parents were from the Suddie
Stud which was managed by Frank and Cynthia Haydon. Suddie Scintillation, his sire, is by Walton Searchlight - National Champion Hackney Stallion 1958, 1959, 1960, who
is one of the most influential Hackney Sires and is to be found in the pedi-
gree of most of the recent Hackney Champions. The Searchlight line goes
back to that great getter of Hackneys, Buckley Courage - National
Champion Hackney Stallion 1926, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1931, 1932 and 1935.

Monarch's dam Suddie Mirabelle was National Novice Champion herself in
1969 and she was sired by Hurstwood Consul who was National Junior
Champion Stallion 1953-54 and Novice Champion Harness Horse 1955 and
was also the sire of Holypark What's Wanted one of the most memorable
Champions both in Britain and Holland in the last twenty years.
